Originally founded as a simple Midwestern supermarket chain in 1934, Meijer pioneered what would come to be called the “big box” store in the 1960s with their Grand Rapids outpost that combined grocery and department store retailing in the same establishment. This is something we take for granted now, but back in the day it was a big deal. They’ve continued to thrive in the intervening years, with many locations staying open 24 hours a day for maximum shopping convenience. And this Black Friday, they’ve got some unbeatable toy deals. We dig through their annual Toy Book to bring you the best. Here are our picks from Meijer’s Black Friday toy book.

Overwatch Ultimates Figures
It’s undeniable that Blizzard designed Overwatch for ultimate cross-media exploitation. Each of the popular team-based shooter’s heroes is essentially an action figure come to life, with unique silhouettes, color schemes, weapons, and abilities. Hasbro’s Ultimates line does them justice, coming with a variety of cool accessories and effects pieces so you can move the payload without ever powering on your PC. Meijer has a pretty solid selection of the figures and is delivering a price drop this holiday season.

Nerf Elite Rayvenfire Blaster
The minds at NERF are always looking to innovate with design and performance to keep us happily pew-pewing away at each other in the office, but the Elite Rayvenfire Blaster is actually a blast from the past. The original version of this gun came out in 2013 as the N-Strike Elite Rayven CS-18. They just brought it back this year. It’s a solid flywheel-clip shooter that runs on four AA batteries and can empty the included 10-dart clip in the blink of an eye. Great balancing make this a very dependable gun, especially if you buy a bigger clip for it.

Avengers Power Punch Hulk
One of the biggest loose ends in the Marvel Cinematic Universe right now is what they’re going to do with the Hulk. Bruce Banner’s intelligence in the green guy’s beefy body seems like a weird place to leave the character, and with no new Hulk material on their upcoming slate of movies or TV shows (aside from the upcoming She-Hulk show, which he’s not attached to) we don’t know where it’ll play out. Relive the fun with the nine-inch Power Punch Hulk figure, equipped with Stark’s ad hoc Infinity Gauntlet and built-in sound effects and spring-loaded uppercut action.

LEGO Jurassic World T-Rex Vs. Dino-Mech
The Jurassic World franchise has let LEGO have some serious fun with the prehistoric era, exploring how their construction kits can make realistic, moveable dinosaurs. One of the best sets in the line is the T-Rex vs. Dino-mech showdown, which pits the superpredator against a robotic duplicate made by Danny Nedermeyer, the line’s villain (and Dennis Nedry’s nephew). The clash is over a treasure chest full of gold hidden in the caldera of Isla Nublar’s volcano, and you can build that as well. Some really interesting custom bricks make this a solid purchase.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Gold Sarcophagus Mega Tin
It’s wild that Yu-Gi-Oh has had the longevity that it’s had, considering that the cartoon hasn’t been on the air in the States since 2006. There’s just something deeply satisfying about the increasingly complex card game at the heart of the franchise’s dramatic battles, and people still slap down their trap cards from sea to shining sea. If you want to get started, Meijer has a great deal on the annual Gold Sarcophagus Mega Tin, which comes with 5 Prismatic Secret Rare variant cards and a selection of new cards introduced last year.

Sonic The Hedgehog Plush
We’ve already received one of the best Christmas presents ever with the new Sonic the Hedgehog trailer that turned everybody’s favorite speedy rodent back to his familiar appearance instead of a creepy, quasi-realistic monster. We’ve been waiting for Sonic to grab the gold ring and take his place as a cultural icon once more, so maybe 2020 will be his year. Get prepared in advance with this 7″ plush from Jakks Pacific that will spin dash his way into your heart. Please note: his arms are not blue.

Risk Rustic Series Edition
You probably have a lot of board games, and if you do you probably have a copy of Risk, the classic game of world domination created by French filmmaker Albert Lamorisse in 1957. But it might be time to trade in that battered cardboard box and plastic pieces for something a little more durable. Hasbro’s Rustic Series takes some of their most popular games and reissues them in durable wooden editions, housed in distressed farmhouse-style wood boxes. Risk just seems so much more meaningful when you’re playing it on a board like this.

Star Wars Funko Pops
If you’re looking to add the new Rise of Skywalker Funko Pops to your sprawling Pop collection, you could do worse than to pick them up at Meijer, which has a bunch of stock on hand and is offering discounts on several of the entries, including Rey and Kylo Ren. It’s wild to think that we’re just a month out from the end of the Star Wars saga (at least as how it was initially conceived by George Lucas), and things are going to feel very weird once it’s over. But Funko never forgets, so get these guys on your shelf ASAP.
