‘Bad Boys For Life’ Trailer Reunites Will Smith and Martin Lawrence

In 1995, years before directing a bunch of CGI robots he clearly hated in the awful Transformers movies, Michael Bay gave us Bad Boys. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence starred as two buddy cops in beautiful sun-drenched Miami. The 2003 sequel ratcheted up the Bayhem as the narcotics detective went to Cuba and got into even more ridiculous action-packed hijinx in a film that honestly feels like a month-long “comedic” fever dream.

After years of threats, Bad Boys is now back for some reason, with Smith and Lawrence both in tow. Check out this new trailer for Bad Boys For Life.

Man I’m not even going to try and pretend Bad Boys has some deep lore to unpack. From the look of this trailer our heroes have realized that they are in fact too old for this shit and want to retire with dignified legacies. Or go out in an insane blaze of glory? Who’s to say.

More interesting to me at least is that Michael Bay isn’t in the director’s chair. At one point Joe Carnahan was attached, a director with similar Bay-esque machismo but smarter. Have you seen The Grey? But Carnahan just co-wrote the script. Instead the directors are Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, a duo perhaps best known for their work in their native Belgium as well as Snowfall, the crime drama TV show from the late John Singleton. So hopefully this final ride will be less gross than what Bay would have delivered.

Bad Boys For Life is in theaters next January, so you know it’ll be good. At least Will Smith isn’t blue. For more on inexplicable movies check out the trailer for Zombieland: Double Tap and Between Two Ferns: The Movie.
