Adobe this week introduced a slew of new mobile software, including the AI-powered Photoshop Camera.
Available now as a preview for iOS and Android devices, the smart shooter is expected to roll out to everyone next year.
“Adobe has a long history of delivering breakthrough experiences for creatives,” CTO Abhay Parasnis wrote in a blog announcement. “And for the past several years, we’ve leveraged the power of artificial intelligence to deliver amazing features to the creative community.”
With Photoshop Camera, users can capture, edit, and share images—natural and creative—using real-time Adobe Sensei intelligence directly in the viewfinder.
The app can instantly recognize a subject to provide recommendations and automatically apply “sophisticated, unique features at the moment of capture, while always preserving the original shot,” the blog said.
It also understands the technical content—dynamic range, tonality, scene type, face regions—to auto-apply adjustments.
“But even more,” Parasnis teased, “our new app unlocks the power of the creative community by allowing users to access a curated feed of lenses made by well-known artists and influencers.”
Starting with singer-songwriter Billie Eilish.
Along with a team of Adobe engineers, the chart-topper created a handful of limited-edition lenses inspired by her … inventive songs and music videos.
Additional details have not been released. But based on an official Photoshop Camera video (above), it looks like early birds can get their design on with filters like sparkle, dreamscape, pop art, glitch, spectrum, and double exposure.
“Photoshop Camera is a major moment for us to broaden Adobe Creative Cloud as a creativity platform for all,” Parasnis said. “We are committed to investing in accessible tools … built for the next generation of consumers and creatives.”

This week’s Adobe Max conference—featuring keynotes from Eilish, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, and comedian John Mulaney—included the debut of Photoshop on iPad (finally) and Adobe Fresco on Windows. The firm also previewed Illustrator on iPad, expected for release in 2020.
