A Tennessee woman was very surprised when the “stray kitten” she rescued turned out to be a tiny bobcat.

For Fox Sake Wildlife Rescue, which rescues and rehabilitates animals in the state, told 10 News that the animal lover recently brought in the bobcat after she initially thought it was a typical kitty.

“It’s a good thing this ‘stray kitten’ was properly identified before it was too late for her to be rehabilitated! An animal lover made an honest mistake in picking up this baby and bringing her home after she was found outside,” For Fox Sake Wildlife Rescue said in a Facebook post. “She had no idea that she had actually ‘rescued’ a bobcat who didn’t need rescuing!”

The small bobcat, which is named Arwen, is being cared for by the wildlife rescue organization. She will need care up until March and For Fox Sake Wildlife Rescue will request an extension to care for their five-month-old bobcats, so she can grow up and play with them in a safe environment.

An update on Arwen’s condition was posted on Wednesday and the fur baby is eating well and being a little more defensive around humans.

For Fox Sake Wildlife Rescue is currently looking for donors to fund Arwen’s food supply and vaccines.

This isn’t the first time a bobcat was mistaken for a cat: In July, a New Hampshire police officer attempted to rescue a kitten in a parking lot that turned out to be a bobcat. The little animal jumped on the roof of a Burger King, which prompted the officer to call the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department for assistance. The bobcat was eventually taken to a wildlife refuge for care.
