An 8-year-old boy recently reeled in a 692-pound tiger shark and it may be a world record breaking catch.
Jayden Millauro, the youngest member of the Port Hacking Game Fishing Club in Sydney, Australia, was fishing with his father off the coast of Browns Mountain when he hooked the massive creature, 9News reported.
“The adrenalin was pumping from the moment we all spotted the shark at the boat,” Jayden’s dad Jonothan told 9News. “So Jayden grabs the rod, we harnessed him up.”
The tiger shark, which was swimming in the water, was drawn to their vessel in a chum line and it bit down on a bait, ForTheWin noted. Jayden, who only weighs about 88 pounds, reportedly managed to pull the creature onto the boat with a 33-pound fishing line.
After the fishing trip, the creature was weighed and it was larger than the current world record held by Ian Hissey, who reeled in a giant tiger shark that weighed approximately 688 pounds in 1997.
Jayden submitted his paperwork to the International Game Fish Association and is waiting for a response on his “catch of the day.”
