Here’s Every DC Superhero Show Coming to HBO Max

HBO Max launches in May 2020. And considering its $15 per month price point is higher than Disney and even Netflix, WarnerMedia is banking on its content being just that good and numerous to get subscribers to swallow the bill. Right now we know that content includes classic sitcoms like Friends and The Big Bang Theory, naughty cartoons like South Park and Rick & Morty, the entire Doctor Who and Studio Ghibli libraries, and revivals of cult hits like Adventure Time and The Boondocks (RIP John Witherspoon).

But superheroes are the real cash cows of modern entertainment. A whole slate of Marvel shows are streaming on Disney+. And HBO Max is fortunate enough to own the other huge comic book publisher. Here are all of the DC superheroes you can expect to see on HBO Max.

Streaming platforms rely on their legacy material about as much as they rely on exciting originals. And HBO Max will feature DC shows and movies you may have already seen elsewhere. This includes classic Batman and Superman movies, episodes of CW’s Arrowverse shows, and even the recent Joker solo flick. We’re still not quite sure how this library will overlap with the existing DC Universe streaming service shows like Titans and Swamp Thing, but hopefully everything just comes over. We need some more DC cartoons in our lives.

One show we know is coming over is the acclaimed Doom Patrol. This misfit superhero team’s first season was one of the best surprises of the year. So we’re stoked that not only is it returning for season two but that it has a chance to be seen by a wider audience. Brendan Fraser is a sad robot!

But you want to know about the new stuff, right? Well after a failed live-action movie and pointless cameo in the Snyderless cut of Justice League, Green Lantern is getting another shot from Arrowverse mastermind Greg Berlanti. Details are sparse but hopefully being a flagship streaming show gives the space opera the budget it needs.

Green Lantern is the biggest name but it’s not the only original DC show coming to HBO Max. Berlanti is also produce Strange Adventures, an anthology about the relationship between superheroes and normal people. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Banks is producing a comedy about gifted teens on their way to being famous superheroes called DC Superhero High. That’s it for confirmed shows, but rumors also suggest Lobo and Superman could get spin-offs from Krypton and Supergirl, respectively.
