The untitled Game of Thrones prequel starring Naomi Watts sounds exciting, but sadly, it will not air on HBO.
Jane Goldman’s Game of Thrones pilot, which reportedly focuses on the “Age of Heroes” and the first showdown between White Walkers and humans, was canceled by the TV network. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the prequel will not become an HBO series.

The news comes on the heels of HBO reportedly creating a second Game of Thrones pilot. The show is said to highlight the Targaryen family and take place years before main events in HBO’s Game of Thrones, which ended in May. George R.R. Martin even teased that there will be plenty of dragons in the series.
Game of Thrones has been generating a lot of buzz lately: On Tuesday, news broke out that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are no longer working on new Star Wars films and instead focusing on their $250 million Netflix deal.
HBO has not provided comment on the Game of Thrones prequel update.
