The Targaryens are coming to HBO: The TV network ordered 10 episodes for the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon.
House Targaryen’s eerie history will reportedly be the focus of the new prequel series. Set years before the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon will follow Daenerys Targaryen’s ancestors, as they try to take over Westeros.
Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik will be co-showrunner of the series, Entertainment Weekly reported. Sapochnik directed the Game of Thrones episode “The Long Night,” which focused on the last showdown with the Night King’s army. He will be joined by Colony’s Ryan Condal, who will also serve as co-showrunner, and author George R.R. Martin, co-creator of House of the Dragon.
