Hey Google, which hilarious actress, writer, director, and producer makes a cameo as a voice on Google Assistant?
Issa Rae’s bold voice is available to U.S. users for a limited time.
Simply tell your device to “talk like Issa” (pronounced “Ee-sa”), or manually make the change via the Assistant app’s settings.
Then pepper her with questions like “What’s the weather forecast” or “When is the first night of Chanukah?”
Rae also tells jokes, shares secrets, sings songs, delivers pep talks, and doles out compliments: Say “Mirror talk” or ask “How do I look” for confidence-boosting affirmations.
Initially revealed at last year’s Google I/O conference, the celebrity cameo made its debut in April with the velvety voice of John Legend.
“Cameo voices on the Assistant have been one of the top requests we’ve heard from you,” Manuel Bronstein, VP of product for Google Assistant, said at the time. “And with the help of state-of-the-art speech synthesis model WaveNet, they’re now a reality.”
The Insecure star’s “extra fly” intonations are available on any device with Google Assistant—including Google Home smart speakers and displays (Nest Hub Max, too), as well as Android or iOS smartphones.
Dig a little deeper to hear Issa’s take when you ask “Hey Google, do you love Daniel or Lawrence?” Or, “Hey Google, tell me something awkward.”
Other Easter eggs: “Do you have any dating advice?”, “Are you a writer?” “Can you rap?”
(Don’t bother asking about a premiere date for season four of Insecure, though.)

Responses to all other questions will continue to be in one of the original Assistant voices.
Last month, Amazon announced that Hollywood legend Samuel L. Jackson would lend his memorable voice to Alexa devices as the company’s first celebrity voice (complete with a “cursing” option).
Whether you opt for the clean or explicit version, Jackson will announce the weather forecast, sing happy birthday, tell jokes, set alarms, and play your favorite tunes.
The Alexa “skill” initially costs 99 cents, but you’ll have to shell out $4.99 once the promo period ends.
