South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone recently issued a sarcastic “apology” after the Chinese government decided to ban their episode “Band in China” and two NBA preseason games set to air in the nation.

Parker and Stone posted a mock statement on South Park’s Twitter feed on Monday, slamming the nation’s government for censoring South Park clips and episodes after “Band in China” debuted last week, USA Today reported. The episode poked fun at how the entertainment industry and sports companies are willing to comply with censors to air broadcasts and other digital content in China.

“Like the NBA, we welcome the Chinese censors into our homes and into our hearts. We too love money more than freedom and democracy. Xi doesn’t look just like Winnie the Pooh at all,” the “official apology” explained. “Tune into our 300th episode this Wednesday at 10! Long live the Great Communist Party of China! May this autumn’s sorghum harvest be bountiful! We good now China?”

On Tuesday, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV announced that the decision not to play the NBA games was connected to another issue involving a tweet recently posted by Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, The New York Times noted. Morey’s tweet reportedly supported the anti-government demonstrations taking place in Hong Kong and after it was shared, NBA commissioner Adam Silver also backed up Morey’s statements.

“We’re strongly dissatisfied and oppose Adam Silver’s claim to support Morey’s right to freedom of expression,” CCTV said in a statement obtained by USA Today. “We believe that any remarks that challenge national sovereignty and social stability are not within the scope of freedom of speech.”

CCTV has not provided comment on the “apology” from South Park’s creators.
