NASA astronauts Christina Koch and Andrew Morgan are taking a 6.5-hour spacewalk outside the International Space Station (ISS) today and you can stream all the activity online.
Koch and Morgan are working to place new solar array batteries on the orbiting laboratory’s Port 6 truss, Space.com reported. The spacewalk, which began at 7:50 a.m. EDT this morning, is streaming live on NASA TV.
Friday’s spacewalk is the second one for Koch and Morgan: The astronauts started the station battery task during a spacewalk on Saturday, October 5. ISS astronauts will replace six lithium-ion batteries for the orbiting laboratory’s solar arrays during five spacewalks taking place in October.
Some astronauts have referred to a spacewalk as a “fingertip ballet.” Tune in live tomorrow at 6:30am ET to watch @AstroDrewMorgan and @Astro_Christina prepare to venture outside of the @Space_Station to complete one of these microgravity dances.
