A bull moose’s “mid-day swim” turned into a scary situation when he became stuck in a backyard pool in New Hampshire.
The animal, which waded into the pool on Tuesday night, couldn’t get out for hours because the swimming area didn’t have stairs, Fox News reported.
New Hampshire Fish and Game Department officials arrived at the scene and realized that they had to “get creative” to rescue the moose. That’s when the team decided to place a wooden set of stairs underwater to help it escape.
A Facebook video of the incident shows the animal wandering around the pool and looking distressed, as officials try to coax it out of the space. After a few minutes, the moose used the stairs to walk out of the pool and ran off into the woods.
“With the moose breeding season beginning to ramp up, bulls are on the move looking for mates. In his travels, this young bull accidentally found his way into a swimming pool in Bedford [New Hampshire] last night,” NH Fish and Game wrote below the video. “NHF&G wildlife biologists, with assistance from local conservation officers, were able to help remove the moose from the pool.
