The biggest problem with our nation today is that there aren’t enough anime fans in positions of power. While we have a long way to go before weebs are running America (our first cosplayer president has, statistically, already been born) we got one step closer to dominance this week in a big way.

There are few bigger stars in the world than Black Panther and Creed actor Michael B. Jordan. A once-in-a-generation talent and a hottie for the ages, he’s blown up over the last few years and clearly staked his claim as the next great leading man in Hollywood. It made sense, then, that earlier this year he announced a partnership with high-end fashion brand Coach.

This is something of a rite of passage for celebrities. Once you’re famous enough, you sign a shoe deal or a cologne/perfume endorsement. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to work on a signature sneaker, or scent, or fashion line. The first few months of Jordan’s partnership with Coach saw him fulfilling some traditional ad campaign obligations and doing a bit of work with them for Fashion Week.

And then it happened.

This week, Jordan announced his first official Coach collaboration and it’s a Naruto-inspired clothing line.

The line itself is a diverse array of casualwear and accessories to match. It features everything from a dope jean jacket to a sleek pair of hiking boots, with every item featuring imagery and iconography from Naruto. It’s not subtle, either. Coach didn’t get Jordan to compromise with clothing that only subtly alluded to its inspiration. No, this is out-and-out Naruto merchandise.

Even better is the absolutely insane video the brand released to celebrate the announcement, a video that is clearly Jordan fulfilling a bunch of ideas he sketched out in a notebook in seventh grade.

It features him wandering the neon-soaked streets of Japan at night and encountering some strange folks as he ventures through an alleyway. Give it a watch yourself and you’ll see – it’s truly wild to see one of the biggest fashion brands in the world today release what’s effectively a fan film.

When you’re as big a star as Jordan, you get to call the shots. And make no mistake, the dude cashing in his blank check with Coach to make a line of clothing inspired by one of his favorite anime is one hell of a shot called. Personally, we’re looking forward to Jordan leveraging his influence to slowly bring power back to the weebs. He’s truly an inspiration to us all.

Now we just gotta get a My Hero Academia fan into public office.

Coach x Michael B. Jordan, which retails from $95 to $2,500, is available on Coach’s website.
