A python with an extremely full stomach was discovered in a Pennsylvania couple’s backyard and rescuers had to figure out where the reptile’s “food baby” came from.

The couple, which remained anonymous, caught the 8-foot python lounging near their home on October 4, Lancaster Online reported. They placed the massive reptile into a trash can and brought it to a pet shop in the area, That Fish Place – That Pet Place. Concerned about the python’s health, they were curious about what it ate and why it appeared to look very full.

A few hours later, Jesse Rothacker of the Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary came to pick up the python, the New York Post noted. According to Rothacker, cold temperatures in the area could have killed the female reptile.

Rothacker couldn’t determine what the python had eaten at first, however, X-rays enabled him to look inside the reptile’s belly, where he found an opossum. According to the Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary, both animals are nocturnally active and their sizes matched up.

Even though an opossum may not be the python’s first choice for dinner, pythons are known to consume a wide variety of birds, mammals, and reptiles, according to the reptile rescue clinic. Since the python was found on National Taco Day, they joked that the reptiles “have not been documented to eat tacos, at least not in any scientific journals that we are aware of.”
