Ghoulies. Tribes. Weapons. It may be the end of the world, but teens are crushing the apocalypse in Netflix’s Daybreak series.
Daybreak, which follows a group of high schoolers who go wild once the world ends, is a hilarious take on all the apocalypse and dystopian-themed shows and movies we know, including The Walking Dead and Mad Max: Fury Road. When a devastating nuclear explosion wipes out most of California, three teenagers become allies and survive together in a crazy landscape.
At the beginning of Daybreak’s official trailer, a teen guy (played by Colin Ford) is not popular in high school: He’s bullied by jocks and is barely noticed by his peers. When a cute girl shows up at school though, his luck may change, as they start having a romantic fling.
But, first love only lasts so long: When a nuclear disaster hits Glendale, California, nearly everything is destroyed and suddenly, high school is not high school anymore. Mad Max-style gangs prey on weak teens in the post-apocalyptic wasteland, while zombies are willing to eat everyone and everything in the process.
Our main guy makes it his mission to find his lost bae and thankfully, he is joined by two friends in the process who may help them reunite.
Daybreak hits Netflix on October 24.
