Surveillance cameras in China recorded footage of a potential meteor streaking across the night sky on Friday and it was a fiery sight.
Videos of the incident show the meteor, which appeared in the form of a fireball, illuminating parts of northeast China for a couple of seconds, Space.com reported. The meteor, which occurred around 12:16 a.m. local time, turned the night sky into daytime in the city of Songyuan and other nearby areas, CCTV noted.
Scientists who work with the Chinese Academy of Sciences are studying footage of the fireball. There haven’t been any reports of meteorites on the ground after the fireball incident.

Fireballs are making many appearances across the world lately: A chilling, car-sized fireball was reportedly caught on camera in Australia, casting an eerie orange glow in Adelaide, while a fiery “double meteor” that looked like a firework recently hit some parts of Florida.
