I’m maybe just a little bit too old to know or care about TikTok. Get back to me when Vine becomes a thing again. However, pornography on the internet is eternal. So it was really only a matter of time before some sex site tried to blend the old and new when it comes to looking at adult videos online. Turns out YouPorn got there first.
YouPorn’s SWYP is basically erotic TikTok.
Technically SWYP is a web app rather than a mobile app. Apple and Google won’t let hardcore porn on their stores. But the look and the interface and functionality are totally meant to mirror TikTok’s short-form mobile video format.
SWYP lets you browse through a convenient feed of adult videos, getting a six-second clip of each that teases you but doesn’t totally give up the goods. Swipe left on the preview for the full thing or swipe up for something new. SWYP monitors your, uh, “preferences” so eventually you should see videos you enjoy more consistently.
“At YouPorn, we are always trying to help our users discover their ideal adult entertainment experience,” YouPorn VP Charlie Hughes said in the announcement. “Now with the addition of YouPorn SWYP, it is easier than ever for users to explore content based on their specific interests.”
SWYP pretty much just sounds like a nifty wrapper for existing content rather than anything new, but these TikTok kids are going to grow up into adults eventually. So yeah they should have an adult video app that speaks their language.
