Not that long ago Riot Games reached a settlement in its ongoing gender discrimination lawsuit. Collectively, women who work at the company or have worked in the company during the past five years will receive $10 million in restitution to make up for years of sexual harassment. We’re happy for the victims but considering just how much money Riot makes through its massively popular MOBA League of Legends, to many the punishment just seemed like a slap on the wrist.
After all, imagine how quickly they’ll make that money back through these pricey Louis Vuitton League of Legends clothes alone.
A few months ago, the luxury French fashion brand began its inexplicable partnership with the utterly baffling fantasy esport. Similar to their work with trophies in other sporting leagues like FIFA, Louis Vuitton designed the travel case for the World Championship Summoner’s Cup trophy, the ultimate prize for pro League players. Louis Vuitton also designed some posh designer skins for certain champions.
But Louis Vuitton is best known for making real clothes in the real world. And they’ve extended their partnership with Riot Games into this arena as well. For as little as $170 you can now purchase items from LVxLoL: The Collection, all sorts of apparel that barely even seems video game related to the untrained eye.
You can get a Diamond Bracelet for $345, a pair of Archlight Sneakers for $1,140, a key holder and bag charm for $515, and a Leather Biker Jacket for $5,650. Wallet-melting stuff, although let’s be real some people pay way more than this through in-app purchases alone.
