Jennifer Lopez found love while cleaning toilets at a posh address, and there’s no reason you can’t, too.
The British royal family is looking for a new housekeeping assistant.
And while Will and Harry are taken, there are plenty of lesser aristocrats wandering the residence for you to woo with your duster and detergent.
The permanent job—with the Master of the Household’s office—is based in Windsor Castle (Her Majesty’s official residence in Berkshire, England), but involves travelling to other royal roosts.
“Joining our professional team, you’ll upkeep, clean, and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they’re presented to their very best,” according to the job description.
It remains unclear whether you’ll be tidying up after the Queen herself, or simply polishing arms and armour, china, and ornate furniture in the public rooms.
“Learning from your colleagues, you’ll gain the specialist professional skills needed, always aiming for the highest standards,” the brief said. “In an environment where development and training is commonplace, you’ll be able to grow your skills.”
Expected to work 40 hours a week, five out of seven days Monday to Sunday, ideal applicants boast a keen attention to detail, enjoy working as part of a team, are well organized with good time-management skills, and take pride in their work.
Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience certainly wouldn’t hurt.
“This is your opportunity to use your enthusiasm and interest in hospitality to deliver the exceptional,” the The Royal Household said, really selling this domestic job.
The chosen candidate can look forward to 33 days of annual leave, access to training and development, and, perhaps most importantly, free lunch. The role also offers the option to live-in (though that presumably comes with a slight salary cut).
Get your applications in: The ad expires on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020.
Other vacancies within the royal households include summer positions on the ticketing/sales, retail, and visitor services teams at Buckingham Palace; the schools program coordinator for Edinburgh’s Palace of Holyroodhouse; and a commercial systems assistant in St. James Palace—the London residence of several minor members of the royal family.
