Earlier today (first spotted by GameXplain) Nintendo posted a cool little “Year in Review” website. Here, Nintendo Switch owners can look at all sorts of stats on how they used the console/handheld hybrid in 2019. Of course, they’re also fed a bunch of ads about games and products they haven’t played yet and may want to spend cash on.
But it’s a cool little tool, and if you’re anything like me you may discover that you’ve been playing Nintendo Switch way more often than you even imagined.

So yeah, in 2019 I played nearly 200 Switch games over the course of nearly 1,000 hours, with my play sessions being pretty consistent month to month aside from a Super Mario Maker 2 spike in June. That’s a lot of games for a long time! Granted, it’s both my passion and my career. I play the Switch nearly every day on the train during my commute to the office. But I think it’s also a testament to the strong year of the Switch, bouncing back to the heights of its debut in 2017 after a 2018 lull save for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
And speaking of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, you can also see the games you’ve spent the most time on this year. I’ve seen reports that this isn’t quite accurate and I have to agree. There’s no way I played Astral Chain, a game I’m not that into, more than Fire Emblem: Three Houses, perhaps my game of the year. But I definitely did sink a ton of time in Pokemon Sword and The Witcher 3.
So check out Nintendo’s year in review site to see your own Switch stats. And to read some of my thoughts on the dozens upon dozens of Switch games I played this year, check out these games for your Nintendo Switch Lite.
