“Welcome to the afterlife” is a chilling greeting, but it sets the stage for one man’s destiny in Christopher Nolan’s mysterious movie Tenet.
You may think this movie is about spies at first, but there’s much more to the plot: The main character reportedly choses death, and in return, he’s sent on a mission to prevent what could be worse than World War III. We don’t know the names of characters or have an official synopsis, but IMDB’s description for Tenet says it spans “international espionage, time travel, and evolution.”
“To do what I do, I need some idea of the threat we face,” the main character says in the trailer. He thinks it’s a nuclear holocaust, but apparently, this looming problem is much worse.
Apparently the key to beating this unknown dilemma is the word “tenet”—it will take the main character on a perilous journey and force him to comprehend the world in a new way.
Tenet, which stars John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, hits theaters on July 17, 2020.
