Tom Holland may have been a bit tipsy when he hopped on the phone with Disney CEO Bob Iger to discuss Spider-Man’s future in the MCU.

The star recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he discussed the important conversation and why he wanted to save the superhero, Hollywood Life reported.

Holland told Jimmy Kimmel about how bummed he was about the Spider-Man feud and why he was sad about not taking pictures with his Marvel buddies at D23.

Despite the sad news, Holland asked for Iger’s email address and sent him a personal thank you note. “I just wanted to say, ‘This has been an amazing five years of my life,” Holland said. “‘Thank you for changing my life in the best way and I hope we can work together in the future.’”

Iger immediately replied and asked Holland to speak on the phone. A few days later, Holland was spending time with his family at a pub when Iger called and he was caught a bit off guard. “I’m like three pints in, right? Haven’t eaten much and I get a phone call from an unknown number. I have a feeling,” Holland explained. “I think this is Bob Iger. But I’m drunk.”

Of course, Tom’s dad urged him to pick up the phone and Tom spoke with Iger for a while. Iger reportedly responded with “There is a world where we can make this work,” which made Holland very emotional.

“I weeped,” Holland continued. “No, I didn’t weep… I did, yeah. I was really emotional because I felt like it was all coming to an end.”

Fortunately, Spider-Man did not leave the MCU, thanks to Holland’s efforts.

It’s where he belongs,” Holland added. “We’ve built such a strong character in that world and it would have been a shame to lose that, but I’m just really glad we managed to work it out.”
