You Gotta Go Fast To Pick Up These PUMA/Sonic the Hedgehog Sneakers

If there’s one thing the blue one has taught us it’s this: you gotta go fast. And if you’re gonna go fast, you can’t do it barefoot. As such, aspiring speed demons out there may want to pay close attention to what we’re about to say: your shoes have arrived.

PUMA has dropped an official collaboration with a movie we’re still not 100% sure is real, that being the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog flick starring James Marsden, Jim Carrey (?!), and Ben Schwartz. While the film will no longer feature the now-infamous “real” Sonic look that was met to universal derision/horror back when the first trailer dropped, it’s going to feature Sonic in some slick PUMA kicks. It only makes sense that the brand would capitalize on that with a new sneaker or two.

The collaboration is centered on a special edition of the PUMA RS-X3. The shoe is made from a primarily white base with a number of colored highlights that pay homage to Sonic the Hedgehog. The upper features muted blues and greys with a yellow tongue and gold accents. The lower has big, blocky yellow chunks and a similar gold highlight on the back, with the crown jewel of the details being the three gold rings on the heel of the shoe.

Alongside the sneaker there’s a wide apparel drop. The coolest of these are the character tees, one of which features Sonic and Super Sonic while the other (which is appropriately black) features Knuckles the Echidna and Shadow the Hedgehog (and let’s be real – if one of these two doesn’t show up in the movie, it’s all a waste). There’s also a killer pair of hoodies, one blue and one black, each taking similar inspiration from the aforementioned tee-shirt pairings.

It might not be the loudest collaboration in sneakers but PUMA and Sonic have actually been synonymous for quite some time. This isn’t even the first time the brand has put out sneakers themed around the characters. If Sonic the Hedgehog turns out to be the surprise hit of February, you can probably expect more sneakers and apparel down the line. For now, hit up the PUMA site to pick up your Sonic gear now. After all, you gotta go fast.
