Samsung Showcases Infinity TVs, Rotating TVs, Extremely Curved Gaming Monitors at CES 2020

CES is all about catching eyes. The show is chocked full of shiny products all vying for attention from busy tech journalists. So companies have to make their wares stand out. And some of the most consistently eye-catching products are big new displays. Screens are just meant to be stared at. Samsung makes all sorts of things you find at CES. But as the show begins their wild new displays are what immediately grabbed our attention.

With 4K TVs at last available for non-bankrupting prices, naturally 8K TVs are the new hotness at CES. Samsung’s new 8K TV line is the Q950TS series, available in a variety of sizes with what Samsung calls “competitive pricing.” If you’re looking for a snazzier name though, these feature Samsung’s “Infinity Screen” technology, allowing the bezel-less displays to sit flat against a wall with no shadows. So the tech just disappears and the image appears to be bleeding into your living room like magic. Cool!

Helping the illusion are new Object Tracking Sound speakers that better take horizontal and vertical space into account when projecting surround sound. You can achieve this with just the four-to-six built-in speakers or by upgrading with the new 2020 Q-series soundbars.

Speaking of taking better advantage of horizontal and vertical space, Samsung also brought back The Sero, the rotating TV we all deserve this decade now for America. As part of its 4K “Frame Series” lifestyle brand, these TVs can rotate into portrait mode so it’s like staring at a big phone on top of your fireplace. Finally, a way to enjoy 4K TikTok videos as a family. Other Frame series TVs include the Serif with its handy space for putting objects on top of it and the Frame with its adjustable picture frame borders.

Finally, if you’re looking for a display that’s a little more isolating, you’re probably a gamer. And you’ll probably be excited about the Samsung Odyssey gaming monitors coming this spring. When we say these displays are “extremely curved” we aren’t being hyperbolic. The 1000R makes for a display that truly wraps around the entirety of your peripheral vision.

If you think you’ll love this curvy monitor there are multiple models to choose from, the 49-inch Odyssey G9 or the Odyssey G7 with 27-inch and 32-inch variants. Alongside the curvature we’re impressed by other specs like the 240hz refresh rate, 1ms pixel response time, and QLED resolutions up to 5,120 by 1,440.
