NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on Sunday, according to multiple media reports.
Bryant and his daughter were en route to a basketball game when his private helicopter crashed. Seven other people, including another parent and player, were aboard the aircraft. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that there were no survivors and officials are investigating the incident.
The greater community is mourning the loss of Bryant, who had a robust career with the Los Angeles Lakers from 1996 to 2016. Bryant’s impact has reached beyond the court: The 41-year-old athlete mentored young basketball players and collaborated with Nike on several sneaker drops over the years.

Kobe was a legend on the court and just getting started in what would have been just as meaningful a second act. To lose Gianna is even more heartbreaking to us as parents. Michelle and I send love and prayers to Vanessa and the entire Bryant family on an unthinkable day.
