The biggest sneaker weekend of the year is upon us. NBA All-Star Weekend is one of the biggest events of the basketball season, but more importantly it’s the biggest weekend for sneakers all year. Brands will often save the weekend for some of the hottest drops they have planned all year and NBA players will dress accordingly, whipping out rare kicks and new silhouettes that get debuted on court over the course of the weekend.
2020 is no different. The first All-Star Weekend of the decade is setting a high bar for the rest to meet. From exclusive designer drops to a Gatorade-themed sneaker (and not the first!) sneakerheads and new collectors alike are about to have to make a whole lot of room in their wallets.

It isn’t much of a surprise to see that Nike is leading the charge with a slew of highly coveted releases. One of the highlights is the Air Jordan III Fire Red, an inversion of the classic Black Cement Air Jordan III (and one of the best sneakers of all time, in our opinion). Any Air Jordan III release is worth looking into, and those looking to pick up a pair for themselves can do so via the SNKRS app or DICK’s Sporting Goods on Saturday the 15th.
We’ve already covered one of the first official Space Jam 2 sneakers on here, the LeBron 17 ‘Monstars,’ which will finally be making its debut during All-Star Weekend, but it’s not the only SJ2 sneaker hitting shelves. It’s going to be joined by another shoe homaging the upcoming film: the LeBron 17 Low. This one takes a Tune Squad angle with its colorway, built from a white base with red and blue accents – and, in a pretty killer touch, a fuzzy grey swoosh in tribute to the leader of the Looney Tunes, Bugs Bunny. Both of these sneakers go on sale over the weekend, the ‘Monstars’ via the SNKRS app on 2/13 and select locations and the ‘Tune Squad’ via a to-be-determined platform (SNKRS is a safe bet but the official announcement hasn’t come yet) – and expect plenty more on the Space Jam 2 sneaker front as its 2021 release date draws near.

But in our opinion, the crown jewel of Nike’s sneaker releases over All-Star Weekend is the Kyrie 6 ‘Trophies.’ This red and gold number is ostensibly a tribute to the multi-time All-Star and former NBA Champion Kyrie Irving’s championship run in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, we’re calling BS on that. This is clearly an Iron Man-inspired colorway. The deep red and metallic gold accents far more resemble Tony Stark’s armor than they do the Cavs’ maroon and yellow team colors. Unfortunately, the Marvel license remains tied to Nike’s biggest rivals at adidas (they produced an Iron Man sneaker last year in the leadup to Endgame). This prevents Nike from calling their shot properly, but they can’t hide an Iron Man sneaker from us.

Do keep in mind that this is purely speculative, but given Irving’s affinity for pop culture and the extent to which it resembles the legendary Avengers’ armor, we’re calling it as we see it. Plus, hey, even if it’s sincerely just meant as a tribute to Irving’s gold-studded career, who’s to tell you it isn’t an Iron Man joint? Live your life. If you want this to be an Iron Man sneaker, it’s an Iron Man sneaker. This one goes on sale via SNKRS, Foot Locker, and DICK’s on 2/14.
Nike isn’t the only game in town All-Star Weekend, but they’re the ones bringing the heat with releases that touch on sneaker history and pop culture alike (that said, if you’re a sneaker nerd, don’t sleep on the adidas Rose 1 ‘Concrete’, which is being brought back from the archive and looks absolutely stunning). Whether you’re a die-hard collector or just looking for a great new pair of kicks to keep you looking fresh through 2020, All-Star Weekend is a can’t-miss. Just remember, most of these releases stand a good chance of selling out pretty quickly – plan your shopping accordingly.
