Imagine diving below the ocean’s surface and coming face-to-face with a great white shark. A real-life version of this scenario was recently captured off coast of Guadalupe Island, Mexico, and it will haunt your dreams.
Footage filmed by a diver showed a great white shark biting and shaking a diving cage, as witnesses inside the structure carefully watched the animal’s movements, Travel + Leisure reported. The excursion company posted footage of the intense moment on Facebook, which has racked up more than 89,000 views. No one was hurt during the incident, however, it was very chilling to witness the 17-foot creature come so close to humans.
“Bullet is playing with the float on topside of the cage and was not harmed except for a chipped tooth,” Islander Charters, Inc wrote on Facebook. “Not to worry, she’s got hundreds to spare!”
Nancy Lasuzzo, one of the divers who went on the trip, also commented on the thrilling experience.
“Gotta give love and credit to Brie Kotek for the topside video,” Lasuzzo wrote in her own Facebook post. “I hope this story shows people you need to respect great white sharks, but you don’t have to be afraid! So grateful for this experience of a lifetime.”
