‘A Quiet Place Part II’ Trailer Is More Muted Terror

One of 2018’s best cinematic surprises was A Quiet Place. Real-life Hollywood power couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt played a father and mother struggling to keep their family alive in a post-apocalypse overrun by monsters that hunt by sound. A carefully constructed horror movie where the characters knew that even the slightest peep would spell certain doom for them and their children. No wonder it ended up making a tidy profit.

And now it’s time to return to that quiet place. Cover your mouth, open your ears, and watch this first trailer for A Quiet Place Part II.Perfect for ringing in the new year and new awful decade!

For reasons that are pretty big spoilers, John Krasinski doesn’t have a starring role this time. But he does return to direct and write the screenplay. Also, since at least part of this movie seems to take place before the crisis, he could still pop up on screen.

The bulk of the film though seems to follow Emily Blunt and her children, including a muted infant, trying to survive and find any help they can. That help includes Cillian Murphy as the new sad bearded dude. And of course, what good is a post-apocalypse without human survivors more deadly and untrustworthy than the monsters?

A Quiet Place Part II releases this March. The Last of Us Part II releases this May. So whether you like movies or video games, this spring you’re getting a solid-looking sequel to your depressing doomsday prepper fantasy.
