If you’ve heard of any professional video game streamer it’s probably Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. Whether it’s his sneaker partnerships, free agent-esque moves from one streaming platform to another, or his weird issues with collaborating with women, this dude and his colorful hair have figured out how to make bank playing video games better than any of us.
Ninja demonstrated his skills in various shooters for years, but he really shot up in popularity alongside the meteoric rise of Fortnite Battle Royale. And now that partnership becomes official. Soon you can buy a Ninja skin in Fortnite.
I’ve dreamt of having a skin in Fortnite since I started playing the game. Today, my dream becomes reality. Get the Ninja Fortnite Skin in the Epic store Thursday 6 p.m. CST-Sunday 7 p.m. Don’t forget to use code NINJA! #NinjaSkin #EpicPartner pic.twitter.com/xTn9UlbkGI

Fortnite has already featured plenty of famous fictional characters like Marvel and DC superheroes, John Wick, and Star Wars familiar faces. And the game has dabbled with real people, too, as it expands beyond mere multiplayer shooter to social hub. Remember those “live” Marshmello and Major Lazer concerts full of kids doing emotes?
But from Jan 16 to Jan 19 Ninja will be the first actual person to become a paid Fortnite skin. His brand is already strong enough visually to make a smooth transition. There will even be different versions of the costume including one with two katanas like a real ninja.
Ninja may be the first real-life Fortnite skin but don’t expect him to be the last. Alongside this news Epic Games announced the “Icon Series” for bringing other famous gamers, musicians, and entertainers into the game. Skins based on streamers Loserfruit and TheGrefg are already in the works. We figure Drake is already sitting by the phone.
