The 90s were such a wild and weird time for comic books that as long as you put a beefy muscle boy on your front cover you could honestly start a new superhero universe to rival the likes of Marvel and DC. One of those beefy muscle boys is Bloodshot, arguably the most recognizable characters from Valiant Comics. And with superhero movies more omnipresent than ever, it was only a matter of time before Bloodshot made his way to the big screen.
Check out this first trailer for the Bloodshot movie.
Forget just voicing a tree, in Bloodshot Vin Diesel gives us his face and his whole body to portray Ray Garrison, a marine brought back to life through advanced nanotechnology. He uses his new powers, from instantly healing to sick particle effects, to hunt down his wife’s murderer. But if you’ve seen anything from Robocop to Memento to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, you’ll realize there’s a larger conspiracy at play. After all, why else would anyone want to control a cyborg Vin Diesel.
Bloodshot is in theaters next February. It’s also not the only character Valiant is trying to take from the comics to the big screen. They’re working on a Harbinger movie about a powerful psychic and his superpowered outcast allies. They even produced a webseries, Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe, showcasing a wide range of their characters. That’s why the Green Power Ranger himself, Jason David Frank, is technically the first live-action Bloodshot. If Spider-Man doesn’t work out, maybe these are the superheroes Sony is looking to fall back on.
