One of the more coveted Star Wars fashion collaborations of the last few years came last year when the brand joined outerwear brand Columbia, one of the top winter-wear brands in the world, to recreate a series of jackets originally featured in the franchise’s filmography. The line included three jackets originally seen in the movies, but the big-ticket item was a replica of the winter parkas worn by the crew of Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back during filming.
If you’re looking to cop any of these former releases, you may wanna check eBay (or not, as the resale prices might cause you to blow a gasket) as they all sold out almost instantaneously. But for anyone simply looking to pick up a high-end winter jacket that will help defend them from the seasonal extremities and also rep their Star Wars fandom, there may be a more attainable release happening this week.
On Dec. 6, Columbia and Star Wars will be releasing their latest collaboration. This capsule consists of two jackets, one for the Light Side and one for the Dark. Each jacket is a Columbia Challenger, a staple of the company’s line. Challengers are weather-resistant and feature effective insulation from the cold weather. They’re durable as hell and will stand the test of time and seasons. But hey, you probably already know that. Let’s talk about the Star Wars of it all.

The Light Side jacket comes in a creamy white and gray color with light blue inner lining, reminiscent of the first lightsaber we see in the original movie. It sports a big, bold Rebel Alliance crest on the chest as well as details on the lining that feature a print of lightsaber schematics. Inside the mesh sleeve pocket is Luke’s vehicle ID for his X-wing fighter and the interior storm flap features “MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU†written in Aurebesh.

If you’re feeling dangerous, the Dark Side jacket may be more your speed. This jacket features a black shell with a red lining paying homage to the Sith lightsabers we’ve seen over the course of the franchise’s history. It features a similar lightsaber print on the inner lining as well as “DS-1†(Death Star) written in Aurebesh in the mesh pocket. Its storm flap reads, “YOU UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE DARK SIDE†in Aurebesh.

Now, if you *really* wanna treat yourself or get someone an absolutely untouchable holiday gift, there’s a very limited-edition upgrade for these things. Twenty-five of these jackets have been signed by Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, and will be available at select stores starting Dec. 6. His signature reads, “May the Force be with you.†These will set you back $900 apiece, so budget accordingly.
The rest of the jackets go up for sale at 12:01 a.m. EST on Dec. 6 via the link above. If the past collaborations between the brands are any indicator, they’re sure to go quickly.
