Artifacts that may be 2,000 years old were recently found at a bridge construction site in the U.K.
A Roman ear cleaner, which looked like a metal cotton swab, a small pair of tweezers, and a piece of timber were discovered at Springhead Bridge, which is being built by Ebbsfleet Development Corporation in Ebbsfleet Garden City.
The grooming items above have been removed by archaeologists for additional examination and documentation. It’s believed that these items could have dropped from a higher elevation, since they were found near the Ebbsfleet River. Additional analysis will be needed to determine the exact ages of these historical finds.

Fox News noted that the river’s source was the site of a settlement called Vagniacis during Roman times. The river was used to link Watling Street to the River Thames, and in the past, it’s been a stopping point for pilgrims and a big shipping hub.
“Ebbsfleet Garden City and the surrounding area has a fascinating history and while the work goes on to document the items found here it would be lovely to find them a permanent home here in the Garden City at some point in the future,” said Julia Gregory, director of projects with Ebbsfleet Development Corporation.
