Robot vacuums and virtual assistants aren’t the only gadgets taking over CES this year: Oral-B, Colgate, and FasTeesH want to take teeth cleaning to the next level with their smart toothbrushes.
Smart home isn’t just about your kitchen, dining room, or bedroom anymore—many brands, including Charmin, want to bring high-tech innovations to your bathroom, too. (Devices like this RollBot can come in handy if you’re stuck on the loo and can’t get another toilet paper roll.) However, if you’re not ready for odor sensors or VR headsets in your washroom yet, you can start small and invest in a high-tech toothbrush for your pearly whites.
Below are the latest toothbrush innovations from Oral-B, Colgate, and FasTeesH. (Buh bye bacteria, plaque, and bad breath.)
Oral-B iO
Healthy teeth and gums are important, and the Oral-B iO can help you achieve a better cleaning session in minutes.
The smart toothbrush claims it uses algorithms and AI to “facilitate achieving perfect brushing results in all 16 zones for superior oral health.” It comes with a frictionless magnetic drive that distributes energy to the tips of the bristles and a brush head that combines oscillating and rotating movements to deep clean teeth.
If you need guidance on nailing the perfect brush session, AI tracking via the Oral-B iO app is available as well. It provides real-time tracking and takes you through a two-minute brushing session with 3D teeth tracking, so you can keep your pearly whites plaque-free.
Oral-B hasn’t listed a price yet for the Oral-B iO, but you can learn more about the smart toothbrush here.
Colgate Plaqless Pro
You may think your teeth are oh-so-clean, but conventional toothbrushes can’t always get in all the nooks and crannies. The Colgate Plaqless Pro can help though and acts like a “brush coach” during your cleaning sessions.
According to Colgate-Palmolive, the smart toothbrush comes with optic sensor technology that alerts you about biofilm buildup in your mouth. It provides information in real-time, so you know which areas of your mouth need more T.L.C. than others. A blue light shows where buildup is, while a white light indicates when it’s time to clean another section.
The Colgate Connect App, which works with the Colgate Plaqless Pro, provides a comprehensive map of your mouth. With the app, you can see where you brushed your teeth, where you missed a space, and if your teeth are truly clean (by clean, we mean no gross plaque hiding anywhere.)
The Colgate Plaqless Pro doesn’t have a price yet, but it will be available this year.
Y-Brush by FasTeesH
Let’s get real—brushing your pearly whites takes time. Especially if you don’t want your overnight oats or cheeseburger sticking around after your meal.
The Y-Brush by FasTeesH claims it can clean your mouth in 10 seconds. Shaped like a retainer, this device has a flexible gum shield dotted with nylon bristles, so you don’t have to do actual brushing. (We’ll get to that in a minute…)
To use, fill the bristle-adorned side with your favorite toothpaste, place the Y-Brush inside your mouth, and bite down for five seconds. Next, flip it and repeat to clean the other side of your teeth. There are three vibration modes available as well, so you can customize your teeth cleaning. When you’re done, place it on a charger and you can go on with your routine.
The Y-Brush kit, which includes a handle, brush, toothpaste applicator, storage container, and USB charger is available for $125 on the Y-Brush website.
